Congratulations to the eleven 7th-11th grade WHEELS band students that auditioned for MSM Summer at Manhattan School of Music today!

Thank you to the Jazz Foundation of America's Jazz in the Schools Program for bringing the great vocalist Annette St. John and her trio to perform a concert at WHEELS! 6th-12th grade band students even got to sit in and play some blues.

Last week was packed with collaboration among music students across 2nd-12th grades, including 3rd and 6th graders performing jazz music for the 2nd graders, 3rd graders helping each other learn to play various wind and string instruments, and 7th graders collaborating to read and play bachata and salsa music.

Last Saturday evening WHEELS 3rd graders and their families attended an Orpheus Chamber Orchestra concert at Carnegie Hall! They were inspired by the featured soloist, Norwegian trumpet player Tine Thing Helseth. They even got to meet some of the musicians after the concert!

Last Saturday four WHEELS students performed at the MEANYC All-County Middle School Festival! Two students sang in the chorus and two played in the jazz band. They put on a great concert after just two days of rehearsals with students from all over the city!
