On Wednesday WHEELS Lower Grades presented our Spring Music and Movement Showcase. Congratulations to all the Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade musicians and dancers, and thanks to all who came out to support them! These kids' energy and creativity are truly inspiring. And thank you to the WHEELS high school band students that showed such leadership and accompanied the younger students.

Last weekend two WHEELS band students performed at Frank Sinatra School of the Arts with the Manhattan middle school concert band in the Salute to Music Program. We're very proud of the extra work they put in to be part of this special program, rehearsing and performing with some of the best student musicians in the city.
WHEELS students entered the Little Kids Rock Songwriting Exhibition 2017, and we're very thankful for the cool stuff (including a MIDI controller!) they sent us in return.

Thank you to JazzReach, Harlem Stage and all of the donors that allowed all 6th and 7th grade WHEELS students to attend two interactive jazz concerts last week!

We are very grateful to Professors Allan Molnar and Michael Bacon for a professional recording and film scoring experience in the studio at Lehman College last Friday. WHEELS students spent the morning learning about film scoring and studio recording, and recorded a new score (consisting of salsa and jazz tunes in their repertoire) for a film from 1954.

Congratulations to the six WHEELS students that last Saturday performed their final concert of the school year with Middle School Jazz Academy at Jazz at Lincoln Center! Jazz standards they performed included "Nutville," "Blues March," Moanin'," and "Cantaloupe Island."

Thank you to the Hispanic Society of America and Meridionalis for bringing a concert of seventeenth-century sacred music from the Peruvian Catholic church to WHEELS!
